Getting set up to receive funds via direct deposit is simple for landlords. If you need help along the way, feel free to call us at 800.621.1423 M-F 9am - 6pm EST
STEP 1 of 4) Create a RentShare Account
Go to http://rentshare.com/landlord and click "Sign Up" in the upper right-hand corner, and fill in your basic information.
STEP 2 of 4) Add Deposit Bank Account
This should be the bank account you would like rent payments to be deposited into.
- Click the "Set-Up Direct Deposit" button that appears at the center of your screen.
- Click "Select Payment Method" and select "Add Payment Method" from the dropdown.
- You will then be prompted to fill out your bank info and agree to user terms.
Once you've added your bank account there is only one more step left!
If you have over 50 units we encourage you to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org for help with these next two steps. By sending us a copy of your rent roll we can help get your account set up for you and invite all your tenants at once.
STEP 3 of 4) Link Your Rental Property
Adding your rental property will automatically link your new landlord account to your residents' existing RentShare accounts so that future payments are sent to your bank account! You can do this yourself by following the instructions below, OR you can email us the rental address you wish to link and we will take care of linking the property for you. Send requests to NoMorePaper@rentshare.com
- Select "All Properties" on the lower left-hand side of the screen.
- Click "Add" directly under "All Properties"
- Enter the rental street address and press "Add Property" button
- At this point, if you have any tenants already using RentShare, you should see the names of your current residents automatically populated next to their unit numbers. If not, try adding the unit number yourself and refresh the page.
If your residents are not yet using RentShare, move on to the final step to get them invited and turn on automatic invoicing.
STEP 4) Inviting Your Tenants & Setting Up Payments
OPTION 1: The Hands OFF Approach
This option is best if you want to give your tenants the option to pay online with RentShare but don't want to use RentShare as an invoicing platform.
Once you have claimed your rental property in the previous step, any tenant who signs up as a resident of on of your properties will be automatically linked. When they sign up, tenants are also given the option to set how much they want to pay and when. So technically, all you have to do as a landlord is direct tenants to rentshare.com and tell them to sign up and they will handle the rest for you. Click the 'Bullhorn' icon in the upper lefthand corner to invite residents via text message, auto-mail flyers, or insert a "Pay Now" button on your website.
OPTION 2: The Hands ON Approach
To maximize adoption and convenience we recommend that you use this option and set up each tenant's lease and invoicing settings in RentShare for them. This will ensure that they are sent a formal invite email and that they are notified of the correct amount due each month.
